Junior Support Engineer – Onsite (Dublin 7)
One of Ireland’s largest and most successful ICT solutions and services providers, with over forty years at the forefront of technology innovation, is seeking a Junior Support Engineer to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious IT professional with strong technical support skills to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Role Overview:
- Location: Eccles Street, Dublin 7 (onsite)
- Contract Start Date: 1st November
- Duration: 6 months
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (39 hours max, excluding public holidays)
You will provide Level 1 hardware and technical support, ensuring smooth daily operations and assisting with IT projects. This role requires both technical ability and excellent customer service skills, with the opportunity to work closely with hospital IT teams and external vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement and support information security directives in line with hospital policy and EU GDPR
- Log and track all calls to the IT Helpdesk using the hospital call logging system
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues where possible
- Perform user administration (e.g. new user accounts, password resets)
- Support, administer, and troubleshoot in-house applications
- Liaise with third-party vendors on support issues
- Monitor daily backup logs and escalate issues where required
- Escalate technical issues to Level 3 support or vendors when necessary
- Assist with IT project work as needed
- Carry out basic network troubleshooting
- Take ownership of ongoing technical issues to resolution
- Provide onsite hardware support, including toner replacement, maintenance kits, and printer repairs
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in 1st line / technical support
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11/XP, MS Office)
- Solid understanding of PC hardware setup and configuration
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability, with good task prioritisation skills
- Team player with the ability to work independently when required
- Advantageous:
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment
- Microsoft Certification and ITIL Foundations certification
- Familiarity with ITSM Service Desk tools and ticket management systems
- Fluent English (verbal and written) and full eligibility to work in Ireland
